This is a sun flower cake make with peeps and chocolate chips.  The grand kids helped and they had a lot of fun.   

Chris working on a fire place mantel.  He's building three right now out of Alder wood.  The wood has a lot of knot holes and cracks but is very pretty when finished.  It's also very expensive like a $12.50 a foot.  He does very good work.

Our garden is coming up, first was the onions and now the peas'

The carrots haven't come yet they might need a little warmer soil to sprout.  Should get the radish and parsnips in this week. 

Yesterday was 80 degrees here setting records and was snowing this morning at 30 degrees.  Should be a foot of snow out there this time of year.  I sprayed weeds in the pasture last week.  Chris and I burned the pasture a week ago Saturday, sure greened up fast.  The burnt part in the middle of the swing set I'm tilling up this week to plant raspberry's and corn and squash.  It's a 35 by 40 foot patch.
All the kids are here for Conference weekend.  It's been fun.  We miss the rest of our family  at times like this.   

Family Fun

We had a great week but a busy one.  Tuesday Liz, Megan, the kids and me went to see Grandma.  She is reading a story about what heaven is like.  We sure love her.

Saturday we decided to see the new City Creek Mall.  We decided to ride the Front Runner.

Albany thinks she is a big as the rest of us.

Of course the cousins thinks it is great to all sit in the same seat.

At City Creek there was a great splash pad.  The kids had a ball.  They are drying out now.

After shopping until we dropped or some of us just dropped, we stopped at Cafe Rio and had dinner.  Then Sara had tickets to the gymnastics competition.  Savanna loved it and all of the kids were so good. 

U of U came in second.

Thanks to the trax system we missed our train to come home.  We had to wait one and one half hours for the next one.  It is very late at night now.  All of the kids went to sleep.  Jack started out this way.

And ended up like this.  Very tired kids and adults.  All in all it was a great day.

I found this riding horse at the DI the other day and the kids like it a lot.  Here's Jack with Grampa's hat out for a ride around the house.  It's a small horse so the feed bill isn't too bad.

I planted ten rows of peas, two of onions and two rows of carrots along the side of the straw berries.  The straw berries really need to be thinned. 

We decided to keep you all a little more informed on what we do.  Thursday we went to Jakes soccer game.  It was a fun game.  Both teams scored alot.  Jake made alot of our points but in the end we lost by one point.  too bad.

Friday we went to a rodeo.   They started out with this big Army tank coming out.  Very impressiv

This clown came out to make a hot dog.  In the end a little dog came  running out with a hotdog bun around him. It was cute.  We forgot to take a picture of us but we went with Jake, Liz, Dave, and Jack.  We had a good time. 

Dave has been searching the net for a special type of vehicle that would look real neat restored.  He called Friday night and asked if I wanted to go look with him and Ben on Saturday.  We drove up to Perry close to home and found this.  A 1951 JEEP WAGON.  Needs some work, but already in Dave's mind is already complete with a multi colored paint job.  Checking out the net will show what it might look like when finished..

The four clyinder engine looks small but puts out big time.  The engine ran just a couple of months ago and looks good.  Thats not a power steering pump but a pump for the snow plow.  Horn works.

Luckily it comes with a lot of spare parts including a good tail gate to replace the old one that is rusted out. 

Dave was able to get a great deal and with the deal the man put it on a trailer and delivered it for no extra charge.  I really like the neat grill.  Dave found on the internet you can get any new part for it. 

Well, that got Ben jealous so he got his Jeep and let the kids drive it.  I was being a spy in the grass taking this shot. 

Don't laugh, won't be too many years and this picture will be real.  All three kids in the picture had a lot of fun.

It was our annual trip down to Temple Square and to eat out and have a good time.  All the kids loved the train ride down and then the trax ride at the end.  Jack was really excited to ride the train.  Great ride huh?

When there's not a lot of room on the train there's always room at the top.  Love the two smirky smiles.

The first thing we needed to do at Temple Square was to find a good tour guide.

We found a place for someone to take our picture and realized Jack and Dave wasn't with us. 

They had so much fun on the trains they had to take a short break. 

Liz and Jake had a good time with all the sack lights and displays.

It's a good time to reflect on all that life has given us and to be thankfull for this time of the year. 

We miss those who were not with us and remember them always.  May they be surrounded with other family member and good friends.

 Ben hid the ball in his hip pocket and Sara is after it.  The ball is there somewhere.

Every team has its cheering section.  Must have been a break in the play.  Everyone had a great time and nobody got hurt and they all worked up an big appetite.  Everyone said it was the best dinner.  Thanks MOM.

Afton and Jack took Grampa to the Tree House the other day.  First time I had been there.  Quite a place with lots to do.  Jack and Afton check out all the fun things to do.  Jack dressed himself up as a fire man.  Good job.
